The hike is a 1 mile long, moderately steep trail that travels below the 200-foot quartzite Whitehouse Cliffs, then continues upward to a beautiful view of the park atop Whitehouse Knob. Although short, this trail is rated as moderate to difficult due to the steepness of the trail so a good level of fitness is required. Bring good hiking shoes, drinking water (1-2 liters suggested), proper clothing including rain jacket if chance of rain (synthetic, non-cotton layers recommended) and day pack (optional).     Josh grew up in Madison County, North Carolina surrounded by the music and stories of his ancestors.  He is a highly accomplished storyteller and old-time, bluegrass, and swing musician playing close to 20 instruments.  His fiddling was featured in the movie Songcatcher, both onscreen and on the soundtrack.  He has performed in all 50 states, throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia and gracing such stages as the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Grand Ole Opry. He was nominated for a Grammy for his 2009 release with David Holt, entitled Cutting Loose.     Families are invited to the Children's Library one night per month for game night fun. The Library will provide board and video games to learn, play, and enjoy together. You can also try out the Library's new Infinity Game Table, a giant touch-screen packed with classics like Clue, Operation, and Candy Land. Family Game Night will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on the following Mondays this fall: September 8, October 27, and November 10 and on the following Mondays this winter: December 22 and February 23. No registration is required for this drop-in event.
