  • Sunrise White Oak Flats Hike

    Start your Saturday with an unforgettable Rocky Fork sunrise! Join Interpretive Ranger Amanda on Saturday, September 19th, for an early morning hike to White Oak Flats. This moderate 3-mile round-trip hike leads to one of the park's most beautiful overlooks, where we'll watch the colors change over the Rocky Fork Gorge and the distant peaks beyond. As dawn breaks, listen for the morning chorus of songbirds and keep an ear out for the resident peregrine falcons near Whitehouse Cliffs. Along the way, we'll explore the sights and sounds of the forest as it awakens for a new day. What to bring: Flashlight or headlamp, water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing/layers.*Rocky Fork can be up to 10 degrees cooler...

  • Bear Tails and S’mores

    Join us for a fun evening bonfire at the interpretive firepit. This event will feature a short talk on black bear and the park ecosystem. Graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows, and s’mores sticks will be provided.The cost for attending will help the park offset the cost associated with the program. $5.00 per person, sign up at the park website to reserve your spot!

  • September Harvest Full Moon Hike 2026

    Join us for a moderate hike up to White Oak Flats to observe the Full Moon. This hike is an exclusive after-hours hike. We will hike up to the White Oak Flats overlook to observe the Full Moon along the Rocky Fork Valley and the distant mountain peaks. $10.00 per person, sign up at the park website to reserve your Spot!

  • Rocky Fork Cleanup

    This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest. We aim to keep Rocky Fork pristine and would love to have your help! Gloves and trash bags will be provided but feel free to bring your own supplies. All ages welcome!
