Top youth teams from across the country will hit the field this July as Johnson City hosts a major fast pitch softball championship at Winged Deer Park. With new turf fields and upgraded amenities, the park is ready to welcome players, coaches, and fans for a week of high-energy competition and community spirit.

Music on the Square, one of Jonesborough’s outdoor music concerts, features Kris Truelsen and Country Casserole this Friday, July 25th, in Downtown Jonesborough! This season, Main Street Brews & Tunes will feature a special Songwriters in the Round event, showcasing local musicians Chancellor Lawson, Andrew Kramer, and Magus Vaughn on Sunday, July 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the plaza of the International Storytelling Center. Estha Egyptian Street food truck will be on site along with local brews from Main Street Cafe. This event is free and open to the public. Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella is the new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers & Hammerstein's most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It's Possible” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” alongside an up-to-date, hilarious and romantic libretto by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane.
Adults aged 18 and older will learn the basics of quilting with an easy hands-on tutorial provided by local sewing experts on Tuesday, August 26 at 6 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. Andy Hedges is a songster, reciter, and guitarist. His varied repertoire includes classic cowboy poetry recitations, obscure cowboy songs, dust bowl ballads, and blues. The Lubbock, Texas native has always had an interest in poems and folk music from the old days of the American West. He taught himself to play the guitar when he was fourteen, then began collecting classic cowboy poems and traditional cowboy songs. Hedges has released ten albums. Join local volunteers as they demonstrate how sorghum is made by watching them cook down the juices into sweet molasses. The team will be showing the step by step process of making sorghum, including having a mule turning the mill. A biscuit and gravy breakfast with sorghum will be served from 8am to 11am.
