This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest. April Armstrong is an award-winning actress, singer, and storyteller who weaves melodies and words into her multi-cultural folktales and historic accounts. April’s journey into storytelling began in the third grade, when she was invited back by the fifth grade to reprise her solo from the school play. Her reward? Cake, ice cream — and a calling she’s followed ever since. She has performed at numerous festivals, theaters, and schools nationwide, including the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem. Armstrong is the recipient of the National Storytellers Network’s 2020 J.J. This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest. We aim to keep Rocky Fork pristine and would love to have your help! Gloves and trash bags will be provided but feel free to bring your own supplies. All ages welcome!

Storyteller, actress, teaching artist, and writer, Sarah Brady taught communication and theater at Hampton University before making her way toward the storytelling world in 2014. She has told stories in the US and UK, where she lived for three years as her roots grew deep in British soil. Sarah’s telling spans genres of historical, traditional, literary, and personal tales, while her awards include being chosen the Sunburst Performing Artist of the Year by Arts for Learning Virginia.
