State of Franklin Battle

Learn about the 1788 leap year battle between the forces of Colonel John Tipton and Governor John Sevier and the struggles of the State of Franklin attempting to gain their independence from North Carolina. Reenactors will demonstrate the forces of both sides with reproduction artifacts, clothing, and weaponry. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children twelve and under. Join Park Ranger Taylor Moorefield for a look at several styles of firearm used in the Revolutionary War era. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of each and see a firing demonstration of a flintlock weapon system. Feb 26th, we have Robbie Fulks, musician joining us! Born in York, Pennsylvania, Robbie Fulksis a singer, recording artist, instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter. In 1983, he moved to Chicago and joined Greg Cahill’s Special Consensus Bluegrass Band.He taught music at Old Town School of Folk Music from 1984 to 1996, and worked as a staff songwriter on Music Row in Nashville from 1993 to 1998. His early solo work, 'Country Love Songs' and 'South Mouth,' helped define the "alternative country" movement of the 1990s. His music from the last several years hews mainly to acoustic instrumentation; it returns him in part to his earlier bluegrass days, and extends the boundaries of that tradition with old-time rambles and sparely orchestrated reflections...
