Book Worms is a program for children ages 5-8 to bridge the gap between preschool story time and book clubs for older kids. Participants will hear a fun story then take part in a hands-on activity that "digs in" to the text on the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Library’s Jones Meeting Center. Ages 5-12 can embark on a prehistoric adventure with Hands On! Discovery Center on Tuesday, July 14 in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. Kids will learn about fossils and prehistoric animals (even ones that lived right here in Tennessee), then create their own using salt dough. Older participants will have the opportunity to explore ancient sediment for marine life. Join the White Lotus crew on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month for the best Tea in Johnson City, some heartfelt community, and some relaxing yet invigorating movement arts to top it all off. Mosaic Mountain: Materials of Collaboration Teen Ren Camp Open to entering 7th grade & Up A one-week Art & Museum Teen Camp for 7th graders and up, Mosaic Mountain: Materials of Collaboration, will be in session June 1-5. Campers will create multiple artworks to be exhibited in one of the Reece Museum's three galleries. Collaborating with local artist Amanda Renfrow and museum staff, campers will work together to create individual works of art through collaborative group projects exploring different media. Projects will include wheat paste collage, contact paper window collage, and a large-scale wind-chime mobile. Registration is full for the annual GattonRx Summer Camp, June 1-5. The overnight camp is open to high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the pharmacy profession. Washington County and the Town of Jonesborough will host a special community event celebrating Tennessee Statehood Day on Friday, June 5, at 12 p.m. in front of the Washington County Courthouse in downtown Jonesborough. Although Tennessee officially observes Statehood Day on June 1, the local celebration on June 5 will commemorate Tennessee becoming the 16th state admitted to the Union in 1796. Garden lovers from across the region will gather in Jonesborough for the 30th Annual Garden Tour & Tea on Saturday, June 6. This self-guided walking tour through Tennessee’s Oldest Town offers a rare glimpse into some of the area’s most stunning gardens. Since 2011, progressive acoustic band The Barefoot Movement has been recording and touring internationally, winning the 2014 IBMA momentum award, and releasing three studio albums as well as a live album, a holiday album, two EP’s, and a covers collection. They’ve been a tight knit group of four, with a loyal fan base in the bluegrass world. But when the pandemic brought their momentum to a halt, the four-piece ensemble began to fragment, with bandmates moving in different directions during the forced hiatus. Tickets: $25

This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest. We aim to keep Rocky Fork pristine and would love to have your help! Gloves and trash bags will be provided but feel free to bring your own supplies. All ages welcome!
