Ages 5-12 can embark on a prehistoric adventure with Hands On! Discovery Center on Tuesday, July 14 in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. Kids will learn about fossils and prehistoric animals (even ones that lived right here in Tennessee), then create their own using salt dough. Older participants will have the opportunity to explore ancient sediment for marine life. Some Old Friends are a local band from Carter County travelling the region entertaining with covers of many genres covering many decades of music. This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest.
