    Participants ages 6-14 can learn about their local history through historic-based crafts, games, music, storytelling, & nature with this immersive summer program for kids. The first week will center around the site’s Native American history, the second week will focus on the Revolutionary War and Colonel John Tipton, the third week will center on the Civil War and Landon Carter Haynes, and the fourth week will cover the Simerly family of the early 1900s.     Children ages 5-12 can register for a 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog.     This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter. Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin at the Park Ranger Station (280 Jennie Moore Rd.). From there we will go to our cleanup location. Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest.     Traveling the world, making friends and music, Lipbone is a one-man orchestra and award-winning collaborator, who makes stories into songs, and songs into birds. In his early days, he left his home in North Carolina to live in New York City, where he busked nightly for three years in Subways. Those early experiences have led to many adventures and accolades. He is currently an artist-in-residence at Oak Grove Retreat, in Tarboro, North Carolina.
