Teens 12-18 can bring your friends and your homework to the Library's Teen Space each Monday after school from 3-5 p.m. to work on papers and projects. Library staff is available to help find research materials and resources, and snacks are provided
Children ages 5-12 can register for a 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog. This month, they read aloud in the Library's Storytime Room between 4-5 p.m. on Monday, September 8 and from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, September 20. In an effort to maximize the number of participants served by this program, time slots are limited to one per child for each event. Families are invited to the Children's Library one night per month for game night fun. The Library will provide board and video games to learn, play, and enjoy together. You can also try out the Library's new Infinity Game Table, a giant touch-screen packed with classics like Clue, Operation, and Candy Land. It consists of songs and rhymes, accompanying books, sensory activities, and play time afterward. The program is held at 10:30 a.m. in the Library’s Jones Meeting Center on the following Tuesdays this month: September 9, 16, and 23. There is no registration for this program. Hundreds of runners from over 60 schools across the region will gather at Winged Deer Lakeside Park on Saturday, September 13, 2025, for the 2nd annual Iron Mountains Invitational, a cross country meet that has quickly become a highlight of the fall sports season! Hosted by Visit Johnson City, in partnership with David Nutter, the event offers a full slate of racing for elementary, middle, and high school athletes. The course, set against the backdrop of Boone Lake and the mountains, showcases one of Johnson City’s most scenic parks while providing young runners with an opportunity to compete in a challenging, large-scale, championship-style environment.
