State of Franklin Battle

Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site 2620 S. Roan St, Johnson City, TN, United States

Learn about the 1788 leap year battle between the forces of Colonel John Tipton and Governor John Sevier and the struggles of the State of Franklin attempting to gain their independence from North Carolina. Reenactors will demonstrate the forces of both sides with reproduction artifacts, clothing, and weaponry. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children twelve and under. Tipton-Haynes members are free!

Join Park Ranger Taylor Moorefield for a look at several styles of firearm used in the Revolutionary War era. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of each and see a firing demonstration of a flintlock weapon system. Program will be held inside Fort Watauga, located approximately 100 yards behind the visitor center. Program is free and will last approximately 20 minutes. All ages welcome. There will be one loud sound at the end of the program when the flintlock is fired. Program subject to cancelation in the event of inclement weather.

Feb 26th, we have Robbie Fulks, musician joining us! Born in York, Pennsylvania, Robbie Fulksis a singer, recording artist, instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter. In 1983, he moved to Chicago and joined Greg Cahill’s Special Consensus Bluegrass Band.He taught music at Old Town School of Folk Music from 1984 to 1996, and worked as a staff songwriter on Music Row in Nashville from 1993 to 1998. His early solo work, 'Country Love Songs' and 'South Mouth,' helped define the "alternative country" movement of the 1990s. His music from the last several years hews mainly to acoustic instrumentation; it returns him in part to his earlier bluegrass days, and extends the boundaries of that tradition with old-time rambles and sparely orchestrated reflections...

We had only been a band for barely 5 years when we started getting courted by major labels in 1993. We signed with A&M, got paired up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett and moved to LA to record our major label debut. Before you knew it, there we were on Conan, in Rolling Stone, People Magazine and on the radio all over the world. In addition to tunes from their other sixteen Studio and Live albums, Jack and Cary will hone in on some of the classic tunes and stories from Bringing on the Weather that solidified the duo into the national and international music scene.

He holds BM and MM degrees in jazz performance from The Manhattan School of Music and was a part of the vibrant NYC jazz scene for eleven years before relocating in 2019. While a resident of the KC-Metro, Larson has held positions at UMKC Conservatory, University of Kansas and The Kansas City Art Institute.
