    Join the White Lotus crew on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month for the best Tea in Johnson City, some heartfelt community, and some relaxing yet invigorating movement arts to top it all off. We will meet at the Philosopher's House for a tea of your choice, then head out to the park (weather permitting) for Yang 24 (Beijing Style) Tai Chi. Our warmup will include some Qigong and exercises influenced by martial arts style like Bajiquan and Baguazhang. How to register: Drop-in, no registration needed. Location: Meet at the teahouse at 10:30am, then walk with us down to King Commons for Tai Chi time Cost: Beverage or food purchase encouraged to support teahouse nonprofit.

  • Building with the Lions

    Johnson City Public Library 100 W Millard St, Johnson City, TN

    Families are invited to drop by the Library's Jones Meeting Center the second Saturday of every month between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for Building with the Lions. You can build creations using LEGO blocks and other construction materials, which will then be displayed in the Children's Library. This program is facilitated by the Johnson City Lions Club.

  • Art Explorers

    Johnson City Public Library 100 W Millard St, Johnson City, TN

    In Art Explorers, children ages 8-12 learn about famous artists and their distinct styles, sparking discovery of art history as well as creativity. Young art enthusiasts will then complete their very own masterpieces inspired by that session’s featured art style. This winter, we will meet at 4 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the following Fridays: December 12, January 9, and February 13.     Johnson City Public Library 100 W Millard St, Johnson City, TN

    Children ages 5-12 can register for a 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog. They read aloud in the Library's Storytime Room between 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month or from 4-5 p.m. on the first Monday of each month. In an effort to maximize the number of participants served by this program, time slots are limited to one per child for each event.     𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍!Join us for a hands-on blacksmith workshop at Rocky Mount. Students age 9 and up learn basic and beginner blacksmithing techniques. The session emphasizes 18th-century techniques with modern and colonial methods and guides participants through creating modern metalwork in the same vein as they did 250 years ago. What to expect: Working with a fully functional forge lead by Rocky Mount’s established Blacksmith. Learn how to craft unique creations in a similar vein to those from the 1700s.   • Pokémon Trading Card Day

    Johnson City Public Library 100 W Millard St, Johnson City, TN

    Calling all young Pokémon fans! Come to the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the last Saturday of every month from 2-3 p.m. to trade Pokémon cards with other kids. (If you have other types of trading cards, those are welcome too!) No registration required. Remember that the Library is not responsible for participants' personal property. Please keep your cards with you at all times!
