Calling all young Pokémon fans! Come to the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the last Saturday of every month from 2-3 p.m. to trade Pokémon cards with other kids. (If you have other types of trading cards, those are welcome too!) No registration required. Remember that the Library is not responsible for participants' personal property. Please keep your cards with you at all times!

The session emphasizes 18th-century techniques with modern and colonial methods and guides participants through creating modern metalwork in the same vein as they did 250 years ago. What to expect: Working with a fully functional forge lead by Rocky Mount’s established Blacksmith. Learn how to craft unique creations in a similar vein to those from the 1700s. Families are invited to drop by the Library's Jones Meeting Center the second Saturday of every month between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for Building with the Lions. You can build creations using LEGO blocks and other construction materials, which will then be displayed in the Children's Library. This program is facilitated by the Johnson City Lions Club.

Children ages 5-12 can register for a 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog. They read aloud in the Library's Storytime Room between 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month or from 4-5 p.m. on the first Monday of each month. In an effort to maximize the number of participants served by this program, time slots are limited to one per child for each event.
