John R. Miller and Miss Tess at The Jackson Theatre

Jackson Theatre 121 W Main St, Jonesborough, TN, United States

Join us at the Jackson Theatre on Sunday, September 7th at 8pm for John R. Miller with special guest, Miss Tess. John R Miller is a true hyphenate artist: singer-songwriter-picker. Every song on his thrilling debut solo album, Depreciated, is lush with intricate wordplay and haunting imagery, as well as being backed by a band that is on fire. One of his biggest long-time fans is roots music favorite Tyler Childers, who says he’s “a well-travelled wordsmith mapping out the world he’s seen, three chords at a time.” Miller is somehow able to transport us to a shadowy honkytonk and get existential all in the same line with his tightly written compositions. Miller’s own guitar-playing is on fine display here...

Their sound blends vintage blues rock tones with heartfelt songwriting and a steady roots groove. Based in Jonesborough, Tennessee, front man Jake Dwyer delivers raw and soulful vocals that carry stories with both emotional weight and musical grit. His style draws natural comparisons to Neil Young and The Band, with a modern touch that hints at Gary Clark Jr. and The Black Keys, yet his voice and vision remain entirely his own.The band released their debut album Late in 2022, followed by the introspective Driving Thoughts EP in 2023. East Nash Grass at The Jackson Theatre

Jackson Theatre 121 W Main St, Jonesborough, TN, United States

East Nash Grass exemplifies the best of what bluegrass has to offer — as being named the 2024 IBMA New Artist of the Year would suggest. But their breathtaking talent as singers, instrumentalists, and composers is just the beginning. While other acts chase their tail in search of nostalgia, the secret to East Nash Grass lies in their unflinching ability to be themselves. It certainly helps that they are a veritable supergroup of award-winners who have been performing longer than anyone would guess that they’ve been alive. With a lifetime of experience in both new and legacy acts (Dan Tyminski, Tim O’Brien, Sierra Hull, Rhonda Vincent, etc.), the tradition of bluegrass is fundamental to who they are as musicians and...

A. Lee Edwards at the Down Home

Down Home 300 W Main St, Johnson City, TN, United States

A. LEE EDWARDS has been making music for 30 years. It’s been an essential element throughout his entire life. That said, his new music represents a rebirth of sorts, one that’s manifest in not one, but two new albums, Interpreting Heart Sounds Vol. I and Interpreting Heart Sounds Vol. II. Produced by Alan Lee Edwards and mixed by the legendary John Wood (the man behind the boards for Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, John Cale, Squeeze, and Richard and Linda Thompson), the new album is a major milestone in a career that has already spawned five albums — three under the aegis of “Lou Ford” and two under the handle of “The Loudermilks.” Recorded at the famed Echo Mountain Recording Studios...
