Join us for a night of independent horror films created by local filmmakers. In partnership with the ETSU Media & Communication Department and sponsored by the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts, the third annual Highlands Horrorfest brings together this year's best independent horror from across the Appalachian Highlands to compete for various awards including the Best Scare audience award and a $1000 grand prize for the Best of the Fest. An event where people share their stories of their experience "IN THE SHADOWS"

At this hoot, we hope to gather for people to engage in community, expression, and poetry. We've wrestled with whether or not to have the hoot this month, but we recognize some many need this right now, so we want to hold space for each other.We will collect items for local donation as well as donate all the money from passing the hat to a local organization. Stay tuned for more information about the details of this. As the poet Scott Honeycutt always says, these hoots are not time taken away, but time given back to us, a way to refill our cups, and we have to hope that poetry and expression can bring us together and provide an avenue...

Eminent storyteller and actress Megan Wells will perform enthralling ghost stories for ages 18 and older on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. Her repertoire includes stories by literary greats like Ray Bradbury and Edgar Allan Poe, as well as folktales and original material. Wells is a soulful story weaver who breathes life into her characters and creates an intimate space in which her audience is captivated as the story plays out.
