Teen & Tween Book Club: “The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise”

Ages 10-16 can join us for a discussion of Dan Gemeinhart's heartfelt novel “The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise” on Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. After discussing Coyote's journey, we will celebrate our own unique adventures with a hands-on activity. The first 10 people who register will receive a free copy of the book to keep. Building with the Lions

Families are invited to drop by the Library's Jones Meeting Center the second Saturday of every month between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for Building with the Lions. You can build creations using LEGO blocks and other construction materials. Your creations will be displayed in the Children's Library. This program is facilitated by the Johnson City Lions Club.

Read Across America: Elephant & Piggie Show

Preschoolers and early elementary kids can celebrate the love of reading by watching interactive skits of Mo Willems' Elephant & Piggie stories. The audience is encouraged to sing along and act silly with their beloved children's librarians. Choose to come on either Wednesday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday, March 6 at 4 p.m. for this fun performance in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. No registration is required, but space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Pick up tickets at the Children's Desk when you arrive.

Teen Papermaking

Author Talk with Melissa Ferguson

Ages 18 and older can hear rom-com author Melissa Ferguson talk about her whimsical and heartwarming books on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center. Atlas Books will have Ferguson's books for sale and for signing. Ferguson is a bestselling local author who crafts love stories that are pure fun, complete with quirky side characters and humorous plots.

Aesop’s Fables with Bright Star Theatre Company

Your family is invited to the Library's Jones Meeting Center on Monday, February 17 at 6 p.m. for a theatrical spin on classic stories! Performed by Bright Star Touring Theatre, Aesop’s Fables is a 45-minute whirlwind adventure through the beloved 2600-year old tales. Bright Star’s professional actors bring to life the stories of “The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” “The Fox and the Grapes,” “The Lion and the Mouse” and “The Monkey and Her Pail.” Brimming with audience participation and character education, this production celebrates the moral lessons available in each of these charming tales.
