Families are invited to drop by the Library's Jones Meeting Center the second Saturday of every month between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for Building with the Lions. You can build creations using LEGO blocks and other construction materials, which will then be displayed in the Children's Library. This program is facilitated by the Johnson City Lions Club.

In Art Explorers, children ages 8-12 learn about famous artists and their distinct styles, sparking discovery of art history as well as creativity. Young art enthusiasts will then complete their very own masterpieces inspired by that session’s featured art style. This winter, we will meet at 4 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the following Fridays: December 12, January 9, and February 13. Bring your fiber arts supplies to the Library on the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 2:30-4:30 p.m. for our Fiber Arts Group. Drop in with your current project and enjoy a creative and supportive environment where you can socialize and learn from fellow fiber art enthusiasts.
Book Worms is a program for children ages 5-8 to bridge the gap between preschool story time and book clubs for older kids. Participants will hear a fun story then take part in a hands-on activity that "digs in" to the text on the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Library’s Jones Meeting Center. Ages 12-18 can drop by the Library's Teen Space on Wednesday, January 7 at 5 p.m. for a cozy, laidback evening of tabletop gaming. Bring your friends and try your hand at board, card, or video games. The Library will provide snacks and games.
Children ages 5-12 can register for a 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog. They read aloud in the Library's Storytime Room between 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month or from 4-5 p.m. on the first Monday of each month. In an effort to maximize the number of participants served by this program, time slots are limited to one per child for each event. Calling all young Pokémon fans! Come to the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the last Saturday of every month from 2-3 p.m. to trade Pokémon cards with other kids. (If you have other types of trading cards, those are welcome too!) No registration required. Remember that the Library is not responsible for participants' personal property. Please keep your cards with you at all times!
Families are invited to the Children's Library one night per month for game night fun. The Library will provide board and video games to learn, play, and enjoy together. You can also try out the Library's new Infinity Game Table, a giant touch-screen packed with classics like Clue, Operation, and Candy Land. Family Game Night will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on the following Mondays this fall: September 8, October 27, and November 10 and on the following Mondays this winter: December 22 and February 23. No registration is required for this drop-in event.
