    Dr. Lauren Harding joined the ETSU Department of Music in the fall of 2025. She is principal horn of the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and a sought-after clinician and teacher in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. An award-winning soloist, her previous awards include the Southeast Horn Workshop’s Collegiate Solo Competition, WVU’s College of Creative Arts Young Artists’ Competition, and Midsouth Horn Workshop’s Graduate Solo Competition. She has held positions with the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, Saint Joseph Symphony, and has recently subbed with Symphony of the Mountains and Augusta Symphony.     Internationally acclaimed guitarist Dr. Douglas James brings decades of artistry and scholarship to the stage. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Mexico, with appearances at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall in New York City. A prizewinner of the Arturo Toscanini Solo Guitar Competition in Italy and a two-time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship, Dr. James is recognized for his expressive performances and deep connection to the guitar’s rich history. A specialist in early 19th-century Romantic guitar, he performs on authentic period instruments and has released three critically acclaimed recordings. His performances offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience this repertoire as it was originally intended.

    Now a resident of Asheville, Steve LaSpina has been a prominent bassist on the New York and national scene for over forty years. During that time, he has played and recorded with many great musicians in jazz history. He was a regular band member, toured and recorded with saxophonists Benny Carter, Stan Getz and Phil Woods, vocalists Joe Williams and Mark Murphy, trumpeters Clark Terry, Chet Baker and Randy Brecker, and guitarist Pat Martino.
