Birthplace of Country Music Museum
By Visit JC on Aug 11 2023
Located just across the Tennessee/Virginia border, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum tells the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, explores how evolving sound technology shaped their success, and highlights how this rich heritage continues in today’s music. The museum features rotating exhibits from guest curators and other institutions, including the Smithsonian, as well as photographs, paper ephemera, and digital items.
Do Johnson City your way by experiencing the thrill of Tannery Knobs Mountain Bike Park or slow it down with the family on the Tweetsie Trail. Venture out at night to the Windsor Speakeasy or dance your way to the stage at a local bar, Down Home. Make memories around the dinner table at Label, one of our most popular restaurants in town or grab a quick bite to eat at a beloved local drive-thru, Pal’s Sudden Service. Whatever the mood is, Johnson City makes it happen. Go all out!
