The Appalachian Highland Celts welcome you back to the Upper East Tennessee Celtic Festival 2026! A weekend of music, athletics, craft, worship, and clan gathering on one of the most storied pieces of land in our region.
Member’s Discounts will be sent to your emails in the coming days.

Where: Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site, 2620 S Roan St, Johnson City, TN
What you will find on the grounds:

Calling of the Clans, the ceremony that opens the weekend

A full SHAG-Affiliated Highland Games. Stone, sheaf, weight, hammer, and caber. Competition starts Saturday at 8 AM with Athletic Director Kevin Miller leading the field.

The Everblade Academy. Live weapons demonstrations, gladiatorial combat, shillelagh instruction, and sword and buckler lessons.

Live Celtic music across the grounds. Pipes, fiddles, harps, bodhrans, and the songs that crossed the Atlantic and settled into Appalachian mountain music.

Clan tents from across the Southeast. If your family name has a clan, there is a good chance you will find them here. New clan reveals on our page every week through the summer.

The Scottish Tartans Museum is joining us from Franklin, NC. The only tartan museum in the United States. Look up your family sett in their tartan database and meet the people who keep that history alive.

Artisan vendors. Blacksmiths, weavers, leatherworkers, jewelers, kilt makers, and instrument builders. Scottish, Irish, and Appalachian food all weekend.

Workshops on Celtic history, Scots-Irish migration, traditional music, and Gaelic language.

Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan Sunday at 10:00 AM. The blessing of the tartans and the people who carry them. All are welcome.
For families: Built for all ages. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring the cousins you have not seen since the last gathering.
Whether your people came through the Great Wagon Road, the Carolinas, or County Antrim itself, whether you have been tracing your family for years or are just beginning to wonder where your name comes from, this is your gathering.
Kilts encouraged. Never required.
