Since 2014, Thistle Dew has been captivating audiences with their signature blend of traditional acoustic instruments and vocal harmonies. Thistle Dew’s sound fuses Oldtime and Celtic tunes, and every now and then, the band enjoys putting their spin on a contemporary song or two. The group celebrates each carefully curated song, at times playful and other times contemplative.
Lately they’ve been expanding their “Celtalachian” repertoire to encompass unique versions of standards from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s, and folk tunes from the 60’s and 70’s. Hailing from Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina, Thistle Dew is: Lonny Finley, who plays mandolin, pennywhistle, bouzouki, fiddle, guitar and adds vocals; Nancy Jane Giles, who provides vocals and plays Celtic harp, autoharp, claw hammer banjo and guitar; and Laura Laughridge, whose vocals are enhanced by the occasional sprinkling of Appalachian lap dulcimer.
