Come along to the Down Home to read your work and listen to some fine local wordsmiths.
If you’re free, swing by the 3 Emerging Writers Literary Events featuring Karen Babine, Caleb Johnson, and Valerie Smith at East Tennessee State University earlier in the day! Sponsored by the Bert C. Bach Written Word Initiative, the series showcases emerging writers. There will be a Roundtable Discussion at 1:40 PM, and a Reading at 3:15 PM in the East Tennessee Room in the Culp.
Make 9/18 a day for all of the poetry events!

Sign up sheet opens at 6:45 and the readings begin at 7 sharp.
Our reading lists have been filling up quickly, so please arrive early to get on the list. It is first come, first serve. We will have two rounds, eighteen readers total for the night. If time permits, we will possibly take alternates.
We are trying to be better with time management, so please note that each poet gets up to 4 minutes. This includes any extra things you may want to say about your poem. We encourage you to practice your piece so you know how long it is, or take your phone up to the stage with you to keep track. We will notify you if you go over time.
*
If you can’t make it this time, remember that our Open Hoots are every third Wednesday of the month. We will always have event pages if you need to double check that date.
