Join Park Ranger Cory Franklin for a unique opportunity to see the planets align in the night sky and slowly fade as the sun rises behind Big Bald Mountain.
On the night of the 25th and morning of the 26th, six planets (four visible and two not) will align for the first time in roughly 100 years. This rare astrological event just so happens to fall three days before the new moon, allowing for better night sky viewing.
Since Tennessee State Parks are closed from dusk to dawn this guided hike is a unique experience to see Rocky Fork when the first sun rays shine through the Rocky Fork Gorge!
The hike is a strenuous two miles with several switch backs and roughly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The program will meet and begin at Whitehouse Cliffs Trail Head.
In case of inclement weather program will be rescheduled.
