Wilderness First Responder Certification (WFR) – Sep 13-20, Rocky Fork State Park, Flag Pond, TN
Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) offered through NOLI and Sierra Rescue is the perfect course for those who work and play in the outdoors including outdoor professionals, backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, ski patrollers, medical professionals and serious outdoor enthusiasts.
The course is eight days long (72+ hours) and is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills dealing with: Prevention, Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. Although these appear to be the same basic topics covered in our two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course, they are covered far more extensively in WFR, and there is much more hands-on practice resulting in greater familiarization and proficiency. Additional topics, such as CPR training and certification, are also included. Training consists of classroom instruction, hands on practice, realistic scenarios and testing in a learning environment that is supportive, empowering, challenging and fun.
Upon successful completion participants are awarded a three-year Sierra Rescue WFR certification and a two-year ASHI CPR certification. Both Sierra Rescue and ASHI certifications are recognized world-wide. Lead WFR instructor, Randy Manuel, is a highly accomplished medical professional with decades of experience both as an educator and in the field. Course is being held at Rocky Fork State Park in Flag Pond, Tennessee.
No previous experience required. Age 16+. Cost is $850. For more information and to reserve your spot, go to https://www.nolilearn.org/…/wilderness-first-responder….

Wilderness First Responder Feedback:
“I saved someone’s life yesterday and wanted to thank you. Please understand that they are alive today because you gave me the knowledge and just as importantly the confidence to intervene when it really mattered.”
“I have a learning disability and have never done well in school. I’ve learned more from you this week than I’ve ever learned before. You are the best teacher I’ve ever had.”
“You explained difficult topics in a way that I understood but it never felt like you were “dumbing down” the information.”
