From the headwaters of the once five-acre Birchfield Camp Lake, Lower Higgins Creek offers a unique glimpse at the vast biodiversity and stunning beauty that a lush cove hardwood forest provides, as well as a breathtaking 80 ft. Waterfall.
Lower Higgins Creek Falls is a moderate to difficult, 1.5-mile in-and-out hike gaining nearly 500 ft. elevation in three-quarters of a mile.

Meet Park Ranger Marty Silver and Cory Franklin at the Interstate Welcome Center on I-26, exit 46 (Clear Branch Rd.). From there, we will carpool to the trailhead.
Dress in layers as the weather at the top can be as much as ten degrees cooler than the trailhead, Boots are preferred due to the shallow creek crossings. This is a steep hike. Bring enough food water and gear to make you comfortable and happy.
