The Air Force Reserve Big South Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to Johnson City March 4–8 at Freedom Hall Civic Center, bringing five days of high-energy matchups and championship moments.
If you’re heading to town for the tournament, here’s how to turn game day into a full week in Johnson City.
Before the Game: Southern Craft
Fuel up at Southern Craft BBQ, where authentic Southern BBQ, smoked meats, wings, and stacked sandwiches set the tone for tipoff. Their award-winning sauces bring bold flavor to every plate, and you can even grab a bottle to take home.
It’s hearty, satisfying, and the perfect pre-game stop.
Between Sessions: Explore and Unwind
Got time between games?
Head to Off Leash Social, a one-of-a-kind, all outdoor bar and restaurant where dogs can enjoy a relaxed off-leash experience. No dog? No problem. Guests can still stop in for award-winning smash burgers, chicken salad, more than 60 beers and wines, and plenty of alcohol-free options. It’s a uniquely fun atmosphere you won’t find just anywhere.
Prefer to browse downtown? Visit The Generalist, a curated shop featuring local vendors and makers. It’s more than a store. It’s a snapshot of Johnson City’s creative community.
After the Final Buzzer: Tiebreakers
Celebrate a big win or shake off a tough loss at Tiebreakers, a family-friendly entertainment destination with bowling, arcade games, laser tag, a full bar, and a lively restaurant atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to keep the energy going after the final whistle.
The Next Morning: Open Doors Coffeehouse
Before heading home or back to Freedom Hall, recharge at Open Doors Coffeehouse, just minutes from the arena. Serving locally roasted coffee from Outpost Roasters, handcrafted espresso drinks, authentic Belgium Liege waffles, and fresh-baked pastries, it’s an easy game-day favorite.
Whether you’re here for one game or the entire tournament, Johnson City offers more than great basketball. It delivers a full week of experiences.
