The Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, Inc. will be hosting the Peddler’s Post vendor flea market on May 2. The day will center around the local artisan as they present their hard work and products. From 9am to 6pm the public can browse through the numerous and various merchant booths while several food trucks/vendors will be on site throughout the day. There will also be local historic based demonstrators showcasing their talents. There is no admission as we hope that you will help us contribute to and aid our local artisans and community. Families are invited to drop by the Library's Jones Meeting Center the second Saturday of every month between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for Building with the Lions. You can build creations using LEGO blocks and other construction materials, which will then be displayed in the Children's Library. This program is facilitated by the Johnson City Lions Club.
In Art Explorers, children ages 8-12 learn about famous artists and their distinct styles, sparking discovery of art history as well as creativity. Young art enthusiasts will then complete their very own masterpieces inspired by that session’s featured art style. This winter, we will meet at 4 p.m. in the Library's Jones Meeting Center on the following Fridays: December 12, January 9, and February 13. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍!Join us for a hands-on blacksmith workshop at Rocky Mount. Students age 9 and up learn basic and beginner blacksmithing techniques. The session emphasizes 18th-century techniques with modern and colonial methods and guides participants through creating modern metalwork in the same vein as they did 250 years ago. What to expect: Working with a fully functional forge lead by Rocky Mount’s established Blacksmith. Learn how to craft unique creations in a similar vein to those from the 1700s.
