The Rocky Fork After Dark hiking series is an ongoing collection of guided hikes focused on the unique nocturnal species that are rarely experienced by park visitors.
This month’s program, Spring Emergence, highlights some of the first fireflies of the season, including the spring treetop flasher and spring four flasher. As we move through the forest after dark, we will also look for nocturnal salamanders as they begin their nightly hunt. If we listen closely, we may even hear the call of a whip-poor-will or one of the many owls and mammals that call Rocky Fork home.
This guided hike is approximately 3 miles round trip to the Eastman Recreation Area and battlefield.
