SUMMARY:"A Walk in Their Boots"
DESCRIPTION:A Walk in Their Boots is a collective of reenactors and living historians dedicated to preserving and honoring the legacy of America’s servicemen and women throughout our nation’s history. The group participates in events across the Southeast and beyond\, bringing history to life through authentic military encampments\, equipment\, and battle recreations. \nThis year’s event will feature an impressive collection of military vehicles\, including tanks\, half-tracks\, armored personnel carriers\, trucks\, jeeps\, motorcycles\, and more—all of which visitors will see in action. Guests can experience realistic battle reenactments representing the Spanish-American War\, World War II\, and the Vietnam War\, along with weapons-firing demonstrations and extensive military displays from each era. Exhibits will also showcase the uniforms\, equipment\, and history of opposing forces\, providing a broader understanding of the conflicts that helped shape the modern world. \nOur annual Veterans Tribute Event\, held each November since 2011\, takes place at Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site in Johnson City\, Tennessee. The 2026 event will be held on Saturday\, November 7\, 2026. While smaller in scale than some of our larger programs\, it features the same high-quality military displays\, living history camps\, and battle reenactments. The event also includes a lecture series\, a Veterans Recognition Ceremony honoring those who have served our country\, and an Education Day on Friday\, November 6\, 2026\, offering student groups an immersive\, hands-on opportunity to learn about American military history from those dedicated to preserving it.
