Greg’s Pizza of Johnson City was founded by Greg Campanello of Elkhart, Indiana. Greg had worked for the original “Volcano Pizza” located in Elkhart before purchasing the business. After his purchase of the business, he added his name and it became known as “Greg’s Volcano Pizza”. To this day, there are still three Greg’s Volcano Pizza located in Elkhart, Indiana. In 1963, Greg opened up the his first pizza parlor in Johnson City on Broyles Drive which he simply named, “Greg’s Pizza”.
The name “Volcano Pizza”, which is still on the Greg’s Pizza boxes, is the original “Everything Pizza”.
Greg had a favorite pizza which had pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushroom and cheese toppings. This pizza he named after himself- “Greg’s Special” and gave it a special price point which is continued to this day.
In 1972, Greg opened the Elizabethton store. During the 1970’s and 80’s, Greg’s Pizza also had additional locations in Johnson City on Greenwood Drive and in Bristol. In 1992, Mike Cunningham bought both of the Tennessee locations of Greg’s Pizza from Greg Campanello. Mike operated the stores in Johnson City and Elizabethton up until 2012.
Greg’s Pizza is still locally owned and operated by East Tennessee folks that know the importance of traditions and exceeding the expectations of their customers!

Johnson City Brewing Company (JCBC) was founded in March 2014 by a group of home brewers and craft beer enthusiasts. We celebrated our grand opening on Saturday, October 25th, 2014.
Our regular Tap Room Hours are Thursdays 5pm-9pm, Fridays 5pm-10pm, and Saturdays 1pm-10pm.
The core of this group first got together in 2009, when Eric and Kat Latham formed the Peyton Street Beer Club. Eric and Kat would invite friends, family, and even strangers over to taste home brew and craft beer from around the world. Great conversations ensued (as they usually do after a couple of brews), and there was always a story behind every beer.
When the Lathams moved to Johnson City, Tennessee in 2011, they began looking for a good place to set up a brewery. Finally, in 2014, the stars aligned and Johnson City Brewing Company was born.

This Downtown building was a wreck when Dan first looked at it in 1991. He decided it would be a good investment because of the price.
Little did he know what he was in for. Almost twenty years later he is still working and repairing. The building is now in its best condition and every part of it is useable.
He has re-roofed it twice, the first time was not done properly, so he did it himself the second time.
The electric service was almost nonexistent, the plumbing was a joke, several of the floors were buckled, and ceilings were on the floor.
It took almost two years to get it done enough so he could open one small part of the bar, restaurant.
It now has a main floor with 100 seat restaurant, a full bar, 9 pool tables, 5 table poker room, a small stage and seating area. The second floor has two bars, a main stage and dancing area and 12 pool tables.
There is a half floor above the kitchen with an office and a two bedroom, one bath guest quarters.
On the second floor we built a 1500 sq ft one bedroom apartment and we are in the process of adding a master bedroom and bath which will make it a 2000sq ft, two bedroom, two bath. Sometimes it is OK to live above your business and other times you would like to just get away from it. Here are some pictures of our apartment as it was being built. I don't have pictures of what this space looked like to begin with. It was about 9 or 10 small rooms in very bad condition.

Scratch features elements of a bakery, smokehouse, charcuterie and wood-fired pizzeria, all located below a restored historic home. The staff does most of their cookery with wood in a hand-built, 100-ton brick and river stone oven, resulting in some of the most unique pizza in town.
At Smokey Bones, we specialize in three things: good food, good drinks, and good times. We are a bar and fire grill, but not necessarily in that order. We are grill masters who respect the power of the open flame. We like simple, yet flavorful recipes and believe marinating is not to be taken lightly. We know medium-rare isn’t the only way to cook a steak, but believe it should be. We believe pork should be slow smoked and pulled often. Slow, as in 11 hours over hickory logs every night, and often, as in every day at every restaurant. We know it’s our bartenders who make our drinks great, not the liquor. Although the liquor doesn’t hurt. We think beer should be ice cold and consumed regularly. We know our servers bring much more than food to the table. We are big fans of sports, loud music, and surprises. And we believe in laughing often, especially at ourselves.
Sonny's Marina and Cafe was started in 1952 by Vernon Ford as Boone's Creek Marina. In 1957 Dean and Katherine Cothran purchased the marina, together they worked to improve the business. In 1983 Dean Cothran died, at that time Katherine Cothran (Mama Kat) and her son Sonny ran it until 1988. Sonny Cothran then bought out his mother and became the sole owner, and that's where the name originated. In 1996 Sonny sold the business.
The present owners are proud to own a premier property in the Tri Cities that provides a recreational facility here at home. We had a vision to improve and enhance the property to better serve our local residents and visitors to our area.
